Reliable Fire Detection Where Conventional Detectors Are Not the Optimal Solution
Thermocable is a British manufacturer specialising in the development and production of linear heat detection systems. Established in 1963, the company’s ProReact systems are designed for fire detection in demanding environments and applications where conventional point-type detectors may be difficult or impractical to use.
In a linear heat detection system, the sensing cable itself acts as the detection element. Installed along the area requiring protection, it provides continuous temperature monitoring throughout its length.
This technology is particularly suitable for industrial facilities, cable routes, conveyor systems, power generation and distribution facilities, warehouses, tunnels, car parks, technical areas and other demanding or difficult-to-access locations.
ProReact EN Analog – Resettable Linear Heat Detection
ProReact EN Analog is an analogue linear heat detector designed to respond to temperature changes along the sensing cable.
One of its key advantages is its ability to return to normal operation following an alarm, provided that the cable has not been exposed to temperatures exceeding its specified recoverable limit. Once the temperature returns to normal, the system can be reset without replacing the entire sensing cable.
The system can monitor long cable runs and can be adapted to different application requirements. It is certified in accordance with EN 54-22 for resettable line-type heat detectors.
ProReact EN Digital – Simple and Robust Detection
ProReact EN Digital uses a temperature-sensitive cable that permanently changes its electrical characteristics when a defined alarm temperature is reached, triggering the fire alarm.
Following activation, the section of cable exposed to the alarm temperature must be replaced. Its straightforward operating principle, robust construction and suitability for demanding environments make digital linear heat detection an effective solution for a wide range of industrial and infrastructure applications.
ProReact EN Digital is certified in accordance with EN 54-28 for non-resettable line-type heat detectors.
Why Linear Heat Detection?
Unlike individual point-type detectors, a linear heat detector monitors temperature along the entire protected route. This allows the sensing element to be installed directly alongside equipment or areas presenting an increased fire risk, such as cable routes, conveyor systems and technical installations.
Different sensing cable constructions and protective outer coatings allow the technology to be used indoors and outdoors, including environments exposed to moisture, dust, chemicals and other demanding conditions.
